I've decided to take a break from social media and online reading for Lent. No Facebook, no Twitter, no blogs and I'm only going to check my email twice a day.
I'll be sticking to books. First up on my reading list is Mistakes were made (but not by me.) It's all about cognitive dissonance which I think is key to understanding why people do the things they do.
See you at Easter, God willing.

You are temporarily giving up social media during Lent, Pope Benedict is permanently giving up the papacy during Lent and, if during Lent I find something that I need to give up permanently and am unsuccessful at doing so, then I may feel like giving up giving up something for Lent. Regards ChrisM
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! L
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching 5 figures - 10,000 hits on your blog overnight on 28th February, 2013. At the time of reading it was 10,021. I visited yesterday to check the numbers and you were closer to quarter-of-a-century short. You have blogged off for Lent but a lot of people obviously haven't given up on your blog and are reading your backlog, unless it's your mother, husband and sister reading it 40 times overnight to get you over the line. Maybe even "Big Ben", who by tomorrow will become Blow-Joe, will now have time to read it and contemplate during his well-earned retirement after a distinguised career. Go Girl!!!!! Regards ChrisM
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! I really appreciated you adding this comment as I was wondering if I'd passed to 10,000 mark and all comments are emailed to me.
DeleteLots of the pageviews are people stumbling across the site when they're looking for something else. Some is also Spam. People post comments and add a link to their own website so the search engines think their site is more popular than it is. And then there are some genuine readers!
